Get Construction Estimate was founded in 2020 by Logan William.
The business started from a simple observation: contractors were buying estimates they could not check. A spreadsheet arrives with a total at the bottom, no indication of what was measured or assumed, and no way to trace a number back to a drawing. When the bid comes in wrong, nobody can say why.
We built this around the opposite idea. Every estimate we produce ships with the drawings marked up, the assumptions written out, and the pricing basis and date recorded — so you can check our work before you bid, rather than discovering the problem afterwards.
How We Work
We are an outsourced estimating department. Contractors send plan sets; we send back takeoffs and estimates. You pay per project rather than per year, and the price and delivery date are fixed in writing before anything starts.
That is the whole model. There is no software for you to license, no retainer, and no minimum volume. Send one project or fifty, and stop sending them without a conversation if it stops being useful.
The work is remote and priced to your market — including prevailing wage where a project is subject to it. We do not claim a local presence anywhere we do not have one.
What We Will and Won’t Tell You
There are numbers on this website and numbers that are deliberately absent, and it is worth explaining which.
We do not publish an accuracy percentage. Other estimating firms advertise 99% or 100% accuracy. An estimate is a projection made from incomplete drawings — it cannot be 100% accurate, and a percentage with no methodology behind it is a marketing figure rather than a claim. What we publish instead is our method, our cost basis, and the date every estimate was priced.
We do not publish a project count or a client count. Not because there isn’t one, but because a figure we cannot evidence is worth nothing to you. When there are numbers we can stand behind and show, they will appear here.
Every estimate we send states its own assumptions. If a number depends on something we could not verify from your drawings, it is written down where you can read it before you bid — not discovered afterwards. That schedule is the most useful sheet in the workbook and the one most estimating firms leave out.
We will talk you out of the expensive product. If you have your own cost data, a quantity takeoff is cheaper and will be more accurate than anything we could price for you. If you bid constantly in the same trades, hiring an estimator will beat outsourcing. We would rather say so than sell you the wrong thing once.
How Our Estimates Are Built
Every project is priced individually from your drawings. Send the plan set and you get a flat quote for the scope before any work starts — no hourly billing, no open-ended engagement.
Pricing is built on RSMeans cost data localized to your project's market, then reconciled against current supplier quotes and our own completed project costs. Every estimate states its pricing basis and the date it was priced.
Takeoffs are produced in Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Trimble, STACK and organized against CSI MasterFormat, so the output maps to your specification section by section rather than needing to be re-sorted before you can use it.
